Oakpark Foods, the Tipperary headquartered secondary pork processor, has announced a €2m supply deal with Aldi’s UK business. The new deal will see Oakpark supply 700 Aldi stores in the UK with maple and honey-cured rashers. Oakpark said the deal will lead to the creation of an additional 20 jobs at the company’s Cahir facility.
John Brett of Oakpark Foods said the company’s relationship with Aldi over the past five years had been a key driver of innovation and expansion in the family owned business. Oakpark Foods is part of the Brett Group, which also has an animal feed and grain milling business based in Callan, Co Kilkenny.
In 2016, Aldi spent over €700m with Irish food producers, manufacturers and suppliers. Over 50% of Aldi’s sales now come from products sourced from Irish-based suppliers.
