Telehandlers and compact wheel loaders are becoming more and more popular in Ireland, and have even replaced the second tractor on some farms. They are also becoming more and more versatile, and are being used to operate more implements. Would there be a market for a loader-mounted hydraulically powered flail mulcher in Ireland?
Muthing, a German manufacturer of mulchers, exhibited just this product at the Agritechnica this week. Known as the MU-E Hydro Vario, the front-mounted flail mulcher is available in working widths from 140cm (1.4m) up to 200cm (2m). Muthing says an oil flow of 50-90l/min is required to power these machines. They are also quite light, weighing in at just 280kg up to 380kg, depending on the model in question. Various types of mounting brackets are available to suit the specific loader. Prices start at €4,250 excluding the linkage brackets.
