Alstrong soil machine
Galway company Alstrong Ltd has introduced a new machine that rejuvenates grass and conditions soil, the Auctus. Scraper boards in front of the three metre machine can operate lightly to level dung and scratch out dead grass, or work deeply to expose soil to for grass seed. Next, the roller levels and firms. It is fitted with 3” long hardened blades, which aerate the soil leaving just a neat slit.
If seeding, seed is blown down air seeder tubes onto dispersal plates. Two adjustable rows of heavy-duty grass tines rake the grass seeds into the soil and remove any remaining dead grass.
The Auctus weighs 1.5t, or 2.2t when filled with water, so the harrow tines always make good ground contact. A 110hp tractor power is required. List price is €10,500 plus VAT with the seeder, €8,000 plus VAT without.
Bridgeway multi-purpose
Offaly manufacturer Bridgeway Engineering has launched a new, combined roller, aerator, scarifier and seeder.
“The whole purpose of aerating is to de-compact and that is why we are using a small diameter roller to only close-in poaching damage and tractor tracks,’’ said Liam Fallon. The 1t machine requires 80hp up front. List price is €6,000 plus VAT.
Bridgeway also manufacture a mole plough/subsoiler selling at €2,000; a twinleg moleplough/subsoiler at €5,000 and a gravel mole plough at €6,800, all including VAT.
These machines can now work down to 22” (550mm). The gravel mole plough now has a two-tonne capacity and easily replaceable soil engaging parts.
