Continuing her winning spree, the Limousin heifer Baileys Ice Princess was crowned the 2015 national Limousin champion at the National Livestock Show in Tullamore last Sunday. From an exhibition of 125 top-quality cattle, the judge Ian Nimmo of the noted Maraiscote herd based in North Lanarkshire, selected his champion amid a wonderful lineup of cattle.

From an exhibition of 125 top-quality cattle, the judge Ian Nimmo of the noted Maraiscote herd based in North Lanarkshire, selected his champion amid a wonderful lineup of cattle.
The winning heifer has established herself as a hugely successful addition for the Connell Brothers, Oldcastle, Co Meath. She took the breed title at Balmoral show earlier this year and has already claimed top honours at a number of shows around the country this summer.
Bred by Tom Bailey, Batterstown, she is a daughter of Baileys Darwin and out of the Nenuphar daughter, Roundhill Vjoyeuse 820.
She was also crowned the senior Limousin female champion at Tullamore on Sunday.
Taking overall reserve was the 11-month-old bull Grangeford Jojo, bred by Gary Morrissey, Bennekerry, Co Carlow. Born in September 2014, Jojo is a son of Ampertaine Elgin and the Wilodge Vantastic daughter Goldies Flojo. He had earlier been awarded the junior Limousin male champion and the overall Limousin male champion.
Meanwhile, reserve overall Limousin male champion was Ardnacrusha Jaguar, from the herd of Donal Moloney, Roo West, Co Clare. November 2014-born Jaguar is a son of Wilodge Vantastic and the exceptional donor cow Etole. Jaguar was also reserve junior Limousin male champion.
Reserve
Reserve overall Limousin female champion went to Dan Tynan, Mountrath, Co Laois, for Whitehall Iris, an August 2013-born Haltcliffe Dancer daughter, bred by Noel Brennan, Gowran, Co Kilkenny. She also won the reserve senior Limousin female title.
Taking the senior Limousin male championship was Baileys John, a Baileys Darwin son from the herd of Tom Bailey, Co Meath. Reserve in the senior bull championship was Mullary Jake, bred by Michael Molloy, Dunleer, Co Louth. Jake is a son of Plumtree Fantastic and Ashleigh Dawn.
The junior Limousin female champion was Dan Tynan’s Elite Jeanette, a Wilodge Vantastic daughter out of Elite Eleanor. Junior female reserve was Drummin J-Lo, also by Wilodge Vantastic, from the herd of John McInerney, Newmarket-On-Fergus, Co Clare. J-Lo is from the outstanding homebred Mas Du Clo daughter Drummin Cliona.
The top exhibitor award went to Donal Moloney of the Ardnacrusha herd, Roo West, Co Clare. This award is given to the exhibitor who accumulates the most points at the show.
