Monday saw Raphoe hold an Easter lamb show and sale sponsored by Kiernan Milling.

Spring lambs met a very strong trade with prize winning lambs selling to €375. The top price lamb was exhibited by John McGown weighing 60kg and sold for €375/head purchased by Ciaran’s Butchers, Raphoe.

The second prize winning lambs weighed 55kg exhibited by Liam Martin they fetched €365/head also purchased by Ciaran’s Butchers Raphoe. The thirds prize winner were exhibited by Alyson McKnight weighing 55kg the sold for €275/head these were also snapped up by Ciaran’s Butchers.

These two first prize winning lambs weighed 60kg and sold for €375/head (€6.25/kg).

Other spring lambs on the night weighing from 50-60kg sold for €220-€270/head.

Lambs weighing between 40kg and 50kg sold for €180-€220 with lighter lambs weighing less then 40kg making €150-€180/head. Good demand for hoggets as they fetched from €150/head for lighter more stored types to a top of €228 for heavy more fleshed. Cull ewes met exceptional demand with a top of €260 achieved.

These two second prize winning lambs weighed 55kg sold for €365/head (€6.64/kg).

These two third prize winners weighed 55kg sold for €295/head (5.36/kg).

These four lambs weighed 47.7kg sold for €272/head (€5.73/kg).

These four lambs weighed 48.8kg sold for €214/head (€4.39/kg).

These four lambs weighed 42.5kg sold for €199/head (€4.68/kg).

These three lambs weighed 50kg sold for €214/head (€4.28/kg).
