He added that they will hold more organic sales in September and November and they expect the numbers to be much higher.
He said that the special organic sales came about through demand from farmers in the area. In the past year or two, the number of organic farmers has increased and so too has the need for a sales outlet.
Prices for bulls from 300kg to 400kg ranged mainly from €840 to €1,000, with heavier types over 400kg making from €1,045 to €1,200.
Light bulls and heifers over 200kg were a very strong trade, with good-quality types making up to €935.
Gerry said that prices were slightly higher than conventional stock, with only one or two weanlings making less than what conventional types would make at a normal sale.
Commission rates are €1.8% to the seller and €9 to the buyer. Entry fees are €1/head more than conventional sales.
