The Department of Agriculture is recruiting the facilitators, who will be paid directly to deliver the €3,000 worth of advisory services available to new beef producer organisations.

€3,000 KT model for beef producer organisations

Each facilitator must spend at least 12.5 hours working for a PO.

The Department of Agriculture will pay approved facilitators advising new beef producer organisations (PO) up to €1,500 after they spend at least 12.5 hours working for each group.

This must include at least one three-hour meeting with the members of the PO, according to tender documents published this week.

Each PO may receive advice from two facilitators worth €3,000 in total – one on business and beef production planning, and the other on establishment and registration of the PO. Facilitators will receive full payment after a PO is successfully registered.

The Department will publish a list of approved facilitators similar to that available for the Knowledge Transfer scheme after the tender closes on 5 October.

POs are allowed to negotiate prices collectively with beef factories on behalf of their members under new EU rules that came into force in Ireland last year, but no such group has yet been registered.
