A Roscommon farmer had a lucky escape on Sunday, after a he went into a field with a bull and his wrist became entangled in the rope on the bull.

It appears that after he became entangled in the rope, he was pulled along the ground at the farm in Corracoggil North, near Castlerea.

The man, who was in his thirties, was then airlifted to University Hospital Galway.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) confirmed to the Irish Farmers Journal that the incident took place at the weekend and the man’s injuries amounted to a broken wrist and ligament damage.

A HSA spokesperson said that it is not considering the incident to be a bull attack, but it will follow up on the incident.

An Garda Síochána said that Gardaí received a report of a workplace accident in Corracoggil North on Sunday last and are investigating.
