Carbery Group, the dairy processor based in Ballineen, Co Cork, has sold its performance nutrition brand Kinetica Sports Nutrition for an undisclosed sum to Boyne Valley Group.
Kinetica was first launched by Carbery in 2009 offering a range of whey-based sports nutrition and fitness supplements. The business established itself as a branded player mainly in Ireland and the UK, but also in some other international markets.
The Irish Farmers Journal understands the Kinetica business has been loss-making over recent years and Carbery has now offloaded the brand to Drogheda-based Boyne Valley Group, a privately owned company founded by Malachy McCloskey in 1960. Boyne Valley Group today owns a wide portfolio of household food brands including McDonnells curry, Erin, Chivers jams, Boyne Valley honey and Don Carlos olive oil.
“With strong experience of developing consumer brands, Boyne Valley is well placed to ensure that Kinetica will take advantage of growing retail opportunities,” said Carbery in a statement.
