Last-minute mentoring
Think you might be looking for some last-minute exam advice (and, in all fairness, who won’t be)?
When all your teachers have left for the summer – you and your exam long forgotten – the Irish Farmers Journal and Hewitt College are still here for you. We have teamed up with the Cork-based private grinds school to offer Leaving Cert readers access to expert teachers the night before many of their exams. Every evening between 7-8pm, Hewitt College teachers will be available on the Irish Farmers Journal website (www.farmersjournal.ie) to answer your last-minute queries on the subjects that are being examined the following day.
Hewitt College was founded by Trish McGrath in the year 2000 after she spent seven years teaching in private education.
There are 200 pupils attending the college. Patricia is principal of the college. She is an exam corrector who has written three textbooks for Leaving Certificate French. Trish is a farmer’s daughter from Co Tipperary and a strong supporter of agricultural science and agricultural economics.
Through Hewitt College, thousands of students have connected with farming. In fact, Hewitt College is currently the biggest ag science centre in the country, with 150 of the school’s pupils taking the subject between fourth, fifth and sixth year.
It is also one of the very few secondary schools in the country that teaches agricultural economics.
