“A Life Less Ordinary” was the name of the recent recruitment campaign launched by ferry company Stena Line.
The aim of the campaign was to fill 60 vacant positions onboard Stena Line Irish Sea ferries, with 1,700 applications made by people across Ireland and the UK.
The positions available were part of the onboard sales and services (OSS) team, with vacancies for service assistants and chefs.
The campaign promises a 50%-off policy enabling a good work-life balance. This means shifts are scheduled as one to two weeks on board, with equal time off.
Stena Line’s head of onboard sales and services Stephen Bryden said: “I am astonished by the public’s response to the A Life Less Ordinary recruitment campaign. We have never received so many applications.”
Successful Open days
For the first time, Stena Line also offered an open day at two locations for prospective candidates, which took place on 14 February in Belfast and Birkenhead.
The open day in Birkenhead took place on board of one of the ferries and gave a real-life look into life at sea.
All attendants at both locations had a chance to meet Stena Line’s crew members.
Following the successful recruitment campaign, Stena Line is planning for these to become a regular occurrence. In the meantime, the company says they are always recruiting and can be contacted via their website (stenaline.com).
