Last Saturday 10 February, a substantial auction of farm machinery took place in Fenagh, Co Carlow, by Michael Doyle Auctions on behalf of Belfarm Group.
A large crowd gathered to watch the predominantly tillage equipment fall to the gavel. There was certainly value to be had on the day but some lots failed to meet their reserve despite the auctioneer’s best efforts. A mixture of tractors, ploughs, trailers and sprayers were on offer on the day.
“I am very pleased with how the auction went, and I must thank everybody who came,” auctioneer Michael Doyle told the Irish Farmers Journal after the auction.

“I’m very happy with the volume of machinery sold and I think there was something for everyone – big and small, old and new.”
Five per cent commission applied on sales less than €8,000; €400 plus VAT on sales between €8,001-€10,000; and €500 plus VAT on sales above €10,000.
The combination of poor grain prices and TAMS saw some larger items such as an Amazone Cirrus 4m trailed grain drill unsold as well as a JCB Fastrac 2170 and de-mount sprayer.
