At last Tuesday’s sale in Ballymena Mart, there were over 180 store cattle on offer and a strong trade ensued.
Heifers from 400kg to 500kg sold from £1.70/kg to £2.33/kg, with prices averaged from £2.00/kg to £2.10/kg. Heifers over 500kg sold from £1.69/kg to £2.11/kg.
Bulls and bullocks from 300kg to 400kg sold from £2.15/kg to £2.61/kg, with prices averaging from £2.34/kg. Heavier bulls and bullocks from 400kg to 500kg sold from £2.43/kg to £2.65/kg, with prices averaging from £2.46/kg to £2.55/kg. Types over 500kg sold from £2.32/kg to £2.53/kg, which was paid for a top-quality 540kg Charolais.

At last Friday’s sale, there were 27 dairy cows on offer, which sold to £1,660 for a calved heifer. Other prices ranged from £1,020 to £1,440.
There were 80 suckler lots on offer on the day also and prices ranged from £1,200 to a top price of £1,780. Prices averaged from £1,300 to £1,420.
