CLASP/Geevagh Men’s Shed, located in Geevagh, Co Sligo, was established after CLASP, the local development company, saw an opportunity to start up a men’s project and submitted a successful funding application to the International Fund for Ireland. “We tried from an early stage to ensure that the shed was sustainable and could cover the overhead costs in the long term,” says Eamonn Haron, member of CLASP/Geevagh Men’s Shed. “With this in mind, we developed a social enterprise for making and selling wooden garden furniture. The enterprise is going from strength to strength. The local bars and hotels in Carrick-on-Shannon have been very supportive, leading to a loyal client group.”
