Glanbia

Glanbia is holding clinics this week to help farmers deal with the effects of the late spring. The clinics are being held at Glanbia Ireland branches from 11am to 5pm on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"Due to a shortage of quality forage, recent days have seen a sharp drop in the average protein content of milk deliveries," Glanbia said in a statement. "Based on the weather forecast, grass growth is expected to remain low for another two to three weeks."

Farmers can avail of the clinics at the following venues:

  • Castlelyons
  • Dungarvan
  • Kilmeaden
  • Campile
  • Clonroche
  • Rathdrum
  • Fethard
  • Ballyhale
  • Castlecomer
  • Donaghmore
  • Mountmellick
  • Tullamore
  • Monasterevan
  • Athboy
  • Ballitore
  • Graiguecullen
  • Goresbridge
  • Inch
  • In addition, an animal nutrition clinic for Glanbia milk suppliers will take place in the Lakeside Hotel Virginia on Wednesday 28 March from 7pm.

    Dairygold

Dairygold is also holding a number of spring breeding management events over the coming weeks on herd health, nutrition and breeding. They are being held in conjunction with Teagasc and Munster AI.

"Dairygold’s technical advisory team is supporting members through the fodder shortage by developing individually tailored forage budgets and nutritional plans," a spokesperson for the co-op said.
