Herdwatch has used its platform to connect farmers in the face of continuing fodder shortages. The Tipperary-based agri-tech company has contacted the users of its herd management app, asking them if they are selling or seeking fodder.
Herdwatch has complied a list of farmers' replies and published it on a web page so farmers can contact one another easily.
The list illustrates the imbalance between supply and demand, with 200 farmers looking to buy fodders as of this Monday while only 11 had any to sell. The largest offers ranged from 40 to 60 bales only.
Farmers wishing to buy or sell fodder can enter their details on Herdwatch's website with no requirement to be a customer of the company.
