Classics at Christmas,
Mullingar – 19 December: A night of favourite festive music will be put on in All Saints Church, Mullingar on 19 December. This promises to be an evening of festive music ranging from classical to contemporary, jazz to pop and of course some carols too. The night will feature soprano Rebecca Winckworth, multi-instrumentalist Andy Dempsey, award-winning violinist Denice Doyle, cello extraordinaire David Doyle and very special guests, the Lynn Singers. Aquarela – Out now: This documentary is directed by Viktor Kasakovskiy and is written by Kosakovskiy and Aimara Reques. The story shows water as the main protagonist, showing it in all its glory and terrible beauty. Mountains of ice move and break apart as if they have a life of their own. The film travels the world, from the frozen waters of Lake Baikal in Russia to Miami in the middle of Hurricane Irma and Angel Falls in Venezuela. There is very little dialogue to this documentary. It is rated 12A.
Santa’s Grotto at EPIC – 21 and 22 December: Santa’s Grotto will be open in EPIC - the Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin city. You will begin your journey in the atmospheric vaults of the CHQ Building. Visit Santa in his magical grotto and receive a special gift. Sing along to your favourite Christmas songs and share stories with Mrs Claus. Make up a special pouch of reindeer food with Santa’s elves. You have the opportunity to visit the award winning interactive museum and take part in a Christmas themed discovery trail. Visit the Bakehouse for a bite and avail of the photo-op in the snow cabin.
