This year the Irish Farmers Journal has increased the scale of its stand at the National Ploughing Championships to make it our biggest ever presence at the event.
This year we are really excited about our Bin Your Bills For 1 Year competition, where one lucky reader will win top-of-the-range prizes for a year (see page 15). To enter, readers simply need to collect four tokens from six issues of the Irish Farmers Journal from 24 September to 4 November 2015 and complete the entry form which will be printed in the paper on subsequent weeks.
The Irish Farmers Journal has recently launched its news app and it is available to download on all Android and Apple devices. Our new app is free to download and is updated with farming news and technical content all day, every day to complement our print offering.

In addition to our news app, don’t forget to also download our Ploughing 2015 app which, along with a site map, traffic plan and programme of events, now has a special find my car feature.
Readers can also enjoy free public WiFi on our stand as well as our really popular mobile phone charging zone.
This year we are running multiple livestock demonstrations every day in partnership with Bord Bia and the ICBF. The demonstrations will focus on giving farmers answers to key questions for all the main livestock sectors – beef, sheep, dairy and suckler.
We will examine the relationship between specially chosen stock for our demonstrations and the linkage with global export markets which our industry is based on.
Breeding 5-star replacements is a key goal of the new Beef Data and Genomics Programme (BDGP) and in each demonstration the team will be discussing the importance of this for farmers.
The Irish Country Magazine area of our stand is the place to visit for some fashion, glamour and something different. We will have an exhibition from award-winning Irish milliner Caithriona King to help you find that perfect hat along with free manicures daily. There will also be plenty of competitions with great prizes to be won and don’t forget to pick up our new issue of Irish Country Magazine before it hits the shop shelves.
Irish Country Living’s celebrity chef Neven Maguire is back again this year to cook up a storm on the Irish Farmers Journal’s stand and keep readers entertained each day. Irish Country Living will also be announcing the winners of FBD’s National Farmyard Awards on Tuesday evening from 5pm on the Irish Farmers Journal’s stand. If you are still on site that evening, do visit our stand for the presentation of these prestigious awards.
Additionally, we are launching a new book, Around The Farmgate, a treasure trove of Irish farm stories, with our partners RTE Countrywide and Ballpoint Press.
For the ninth year running, we are partnering with the Road Safety Authority and FBD and we will be giving away 50,000 FREE hi-vis vests from our stand over the three days of the Ploughing. Our merchandise shop will also be a hive of activity with a special Ploughing t-shirt due to be unveiled along with our 2016 Diary and our Women and Agriculture Conference tickets – be sure to get in early as tickets sell out every year.
OUR TEAM
Finally, our editorial team from the Irish Farmers Journal, Irish Country Living and Irish Country Magazine would love to hear from you and do ask to speak to any member of our team when you visit our stand. We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone at this year’s Ploughing.
