While farmers across the country have been aware of the fodder crisis for quite some time, up until Wednesday Minister Creed seemed to be in denial that such a crisis existed and suggested that there was plenty of fodder available around the country.

On Thursday Minister Creed stated that their response to the crisis has been “appropriate and measured”.

Farmer-owned co-ops have since taken matters into their own hands to alleviate the crisis by importing fodder from abroad.

Individual farmers have also sought to help each other out by offering to donate fodder free of charge to those struggling under the current conditions.
