Fonterra China Foodservices has teamed up with China’s largest restaurant rating website, Dianping.com, which has more than 180 million active users, to have a competition to find a winner of the best cakes in China that use Anchor Cream.
Ester Chu, vice-president of Fonterra China Foodservices, said: “More than 5,200 outlets from 158 bakery customers in 241 cities across China have jumped on board and, in just three weeks, more than seven million votes have been cast by Chinese cake lovers.”
All of the cream is sourced from the co-op’s new UHT factory at Waitoa, New Zealand. Operations manager Russell Muir said: “China is a real growth market for UHT cream. The market share of dairy cream in China is still small compared to mature markets. But with bakeries gaining popularity and Chinese consumers increasing demand for dairy nutrition, there are huge opportunities for Anchor products.”
