Four UCD agricultural science students awarded AIB bursaries
Four students from UCD’s agricultural science course have received scholarships from the Agricultural Science Association (ASA) in association with AIB.
Four UCD agricultural science students have been awarded ASA scholarships,sponsored by AIB,to help them undertake the work experience element of their course overseas. The scholarships will enable the students, who are in the third year of a four year programme, to fulfil the work experience requirements of their course outside of Ireland. They have been awarded to the following students:
Jason Meenaghan (29) from Belmullet, Co Mayo, who is studying forestry at UCD and will work at the UC Berkeley Blodgett Forest Research Station in Georgetown, California.

Maeve Reagan (20) from Cloonfad, Co Roscommon, a student of animal science, who will travel to South Dakota in April to work on a 3,000 cow dairy farm run by Irish couple Rodney and Dorothy Elliot who moved from Monaghan to South Dakota in 2006.
Michael Cox (21) from Rathowen, Co Meath, who is studying animal science and will work on farms in Scotland and England in April and May and undertake a genetics internship in June in the US.
Tarlach Mac Giolla Cheara (20) from Carrickmore, Co Tyrone, who is studying equine animal science. Tarlach will travel to Japan at the end of March to work on Paca Paca Farm, a 150 mare breeding operation owned and run by Irish veterinarian Harry Sweeney.
ASA President Eoin Lowry (who is also the Irish Farmers Journal agribusiness correspondent) expressed gratitude to AIB's sponsorship and said the initiative is part of the ASA's comprehensive range of services and career guidance supports to the next generation of agri-food industry leaders.
