Irish dairy giant Glanbia has received a warning letter from Kilkenny County Council for sinking two wells.
A statement from the council says they made a preliminary investigation after receiving a complaint regarding the well sinking at the Glanbia depot in Gorteens, Slieverue, Co Kilkenny.
“In accordance with the Planning and Development Act, a warning letter has issued to Glanbia Ingredients on 28th October last,” the council said.

“Glanbia has four weeks to make a response.”
In response, Glanbia said: "Glanbia Ireland has an established facility at Slieverue, Co Kilkenny. The site team works hard to maintain good relations with all its neighbours, both business and residential, at our facilities.
"The boreholes were registered as per requirements with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
"Glanbia Ireland is committed to following best practice at all our sites and, as always, will work with Kilkenny County Council and residents in the area."
