In front of over 200 high-ranking guests and the staff of Grimme China, Franz, Christine and Christoph Grimme opened the new state-of-the-art 12,500m² plant in Tianjin (130km southeast of Beijing). The new office building with 1,400m² was also handed over on the 3.5ha site. With over €13m spent, it is one of the largest single-investments abroad in the company's 150-year history.

Project manager Christoph Grimme said: "The new plant is designed for state-of-the-art manufacturing and production. With this we will be able to guarantee the same high-quality level as at the main plant in Damme (Germany)."
Initially, the production focus will be on machines for planting, cultivating, harvesting and storage of potatoes that have been specially developed for the Chinese market.
