The internet was also exceptionally busy for the sale, which ran from 25 to 27 January, accounting for half of all registered bidders. Some 35% of all sales by value were secured online. There was a strong European presence with almost every EU country being represented as well as strong contingents from North Africa and the Middle East.

The internet was also exceptionally busy for the sale, which ran from 25 to 27 January, accounting for half of all registered bidders. Some 35% of all sales by value were secured online. There was a strong European presence with almost every EU country being represented as well as strong contingents from North Africa and the Middle East.
Bidders from 65 separate countries registered for this auction. Almost half of all sales by value were secured by individuals registering as UK attendees. Those from the Republic of Ireland spent over £4.5m (€5.3m), while the Netherlands accounted for almost £2m (€2.35m). Bidders from Finland, Poland and Portugal each spent around the million mark. Further afield, almost £1m worth of equipment was secured by bidders located in the US, while other consignments are now being shipped to many far-flung parts of the globe.
“Our January auction at Leeds has always been one of the most popular in our calendar, attracting a large number international bidders and buyers and achieving an impressive £32.2m hammer total – so this sale didn’t disappoint,” said Jonnie Keys, operations manager for Euro Auctions.
Euro Auctions has a number of auctions scheduled over coming months including the sale of 130 mobile cranes previously operated by Hewden Stuart (from 220t down to 35t All Terrain and City cranes) at the Newark Showground in Nottinghamshire on Friday 3 March.
