The Ploughing legend said the demand from exhibitors is a sign of an improving economy.
“It’s going very well. All the entries are coming in now. We have seen tremendous interest coming in this year. You can see that the economy is much brighter than a few years so," she said.
She said this year's event, which takes place in Ratheniska, Co Laois, will be the biggest yet.
“We’ll break records with exhibitors any way. A lot of new machinery companies have come on board," she said.
“Would we ever be able to repeat it because the last two years have been very good? I hope we can."
One thing is for certain - McHugh has no intention of slowing down. She was appointed secretary of the NPA in 1955, marking her 60th year at the helm in 2015.
“Oh no! I’ll keep going. If I stopped, I’d be afraid I wouldn’t start again," she concluded.
