Most European co-ops have already agreed milk prices for September, while in Ireland the price for August is yet to be set.

Is anyone asking about the best way to set the price of milk in Ireland?
Every month, Irish farmers meet as board members – representing farmers – to set the price for the month just gone. They are due to meet shortly to set August prices.
In other countries, board members meet to forward price by one to two months. Most European co-ops have met and agreed price increases for September before milk has been produced. The IFA tells us that the Dutch, Danes and French have all increased prices by 1c or 2c/litre for September. Milk suppliers can plan better if they at least know what price they can expect. In this age of significant volatility, surely it’s the least suppliers can expect.
