Joseph Heler, a cheesemaker from Nantwich, Cheshire, has launched a new high-protein low-fat cheese on the UK market under the dairy’s new Eatlean brand, according to Dairy Reporter.
The cheese contains 40% more protein than regular full-fat cheddar. More importantly for some consumers, 100g of the cheese contains just 3g of fat, a 90% reduction on regular full-fat cheddar.
The company says Eatlean Protein Cheese is suitable for vegetarians and will also be available in own-label packs in Waitrose, Weightwatchers as well as sports nutrition company MyProtein.
The company intends to launch in Morrisons and Tesco later.
