Kerry Group has increased its milk price for June supplies to 28.94c/l, excluding VAT.

It is the third processor to set a June milk price.

Last week, Lakeland Dairies also increased its June milk price for suppliers on the island of Ireland.

Farmers in the Republic of Ireland will receive a rise of 1c/l for June supplies, bringing the base price to 28.46c/l, excluding VAT.

Glanbia increased its price to 28.6c/l, excluding VAT, a 1.5c/l lift in price for June.

Serious questions

All milk purchasers will pay at least 30c/l for June milk following Glanbia's increase in its base milk price by 1.68c/l to 29.68c/l, the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA) has said.

Chair of ICMSA’s dairy committee Ger Quain said: “The other co-ops are due to set their milk price in the coming week and very serious questions will be asked of any processor which does not come up to the 30c/l price.”

Ornua PPI

Last week, the Ornua purchase price index (PPI) increased for June.

It increased to 101.7 percentage points, equivalent to a milk price of 28.55c/l excluding VAT.

This is a marginal increase on the May PPI and is attributable to stable returns across the Ornua product mix.
