Knackery operators are to reopen their gates to farmers this morning following an emergency meeting with the Department of Agriculture yesterday.
Knackeries had gone on strike, refusing to collect animals or take deliveries from farmers in a dispute with the Department about supports for the sector.
A spokesperson for the Animal Collectors Association (ACA) told the Irish Farmers Journal that knackeries would resume normal animal collection services from this morning.

The strike had seen animals unable to be moved off farms since Thursday 27 February. Peak calving season, coupled with adverse weather conditions meant that many farmers were under considerable pressure.
