Lamb prices are gaining momentum at Kilrea Mart, with a top price of £89.50 paid for a group of 23kg animals on Monday, converting to 397p/kg. Numbers coming forward for sale are tightening and agents are becoming more competitive, giving prices a much needed boost.
Lamb prices are gaining momentum at Kilrea Mart, with a top price of £89.50 paid for a group of 23kg animals on Monday, converting to 397p/kg.
Numbers coming forward for sale are tightening and agents are becoming more competitive, giving prices a much needed boost.
Other stand-out prices saw £88.50 being paid on a pen of 24.5kg lambs and again for a pen of 24kg animals.
This was followed by £88.40 for a pen of 26kg animals, with £88 paid on a pen of 25kg lambs and £87.50 paid for animals weighing 23kg.
Lambs weighing 25kg made £87, with £85.50 paid to 24kg on a number of occasions. Lambs weighing 23kg to 23.5kg also sold from £80, rising to £85.50 for top-quality lots.
Lighter lambs weighing 22kg to 22.5kg sold upwards from £78.50 to £82.50, with animals weighing 21kg to 21.5kg making £78. A limited entry of lambs weighing 17kg to 18.5kg sold for £67.50 to £72.80.
