Corteva Agriscience will not be launching its new fungicide Inatreq Active (fenpicoxamid) this spring, as was originally planned.

The new active has been eagerly anticipated as another tool to help protect against key cereal diseases.

The active has been shown to provide good protectant and curative efficacy in wheat against septoria, with good protectant activity on yellow and brown rust.

Further discussion

Product authorisation for Ireland and the UK was expected in spring of this year. However, while the regulatory evaluation is almost complete, the final pieces of data will require further discussion with the regulator.

As a result, this won’t allow evaluation of the active to be concluded in time to allow sales of Inatreq products in 2020, the company has said.

In a statement seen by the Irish Farmers Journal, the company stated: “While this development is disappointing for Corteva and for farmers, Corteva remains entirely confident the outcome of this dialogue will be positive and that Inatreq Active will be in the market in 2021.”
