FBD has received a relatively low number of applicants for its COVID-19 farm support scheme worth €200,000.
FBD is awaiting confirmation of the exact number of applications.
“Perhaps this is an indication of the successful implementation of HSE guidelines and social distancing measures on Irish farms,” a spokesperson for FBD told the Irish Farmers Journal.
“This is a proactive initiative to financially assist our farm customers affected by a COVID-19 diagnosis. c
We believe we have a role to play during the COVID-19 crisis
“Upon diagnosis we urge farmers unable to work to apply for a Farm Relief Service (FRS) voucher of €500 (subject to terms and conditions) which will assist in keeping farms operational during this busy period.”
Jeep rebate
FBD has confirmed that private and commercial vehicles are covered under its rebate proposal.
“We believe we have a role to play during the COVID-19 crisis. Life has temporarily changed and the roads are quieter than ever.
“Because of this, we will be rebating a portion of premium to our standard private car and commercial van and jeep policyholders.
“This measure reflects an expected lower level of claims due to the travel restrictions which have been put in place. There’s no need for policyholders to take any action and further clarification will be issued over the coming weeks,” the FBD spokesperson said.
Supports
FBD has a number of supports for customers including:
No administration or cancellation fees will apply for any motor or home customer for the duration of COVID-19.Customers unable to complete medical, NCT or DOE tests will not be restricted from renewing or taking out insurance at this time. FBD will need these documents once this event is over.In the event of direct debit defaults during COVID-19, FBD will work closely with customers to ensure continuation of cover where possible.Cancelled policies will not incur any fees or charges. FBD will offer a pro-rata refund for the remainder of the term. Certain exceptions to this may apply eg where there is an ongoing related claim.Farm and business customers
FBD has said that business customers who temporarily closed in response to COVID-19 can avail of a refund for the relevant portion of premium relating to business closure.
It advises that farm and business customers experiencing financial challenges should contact their branch, phone 01-761 7617 or their broker.
FBD is open for business for new and existing farm and business customers; however on-site surveys have been temporarily suspended in line with Government guidelines regarding COVID-19.
