In Ireland over 50 years, Bogballe has a strong market presence. According to Trevor Richardson from Atkins, the Bogballe range is synonymous with precision and accuracy, offering machines from the popular L1 model, starting at 700 litres, right through to the mammoth M6W machine at 6t.
Trevor says the machines require very little operator input to achieve industry-leading results in the field.
The Danish manufacturer’s focus is only on fertiliser spreaders. Like all other manufacturers in Europe, it has invested in a very advanced 3D testing rig to generate 3D spread patterns and help fully understand what is happening with a spread pattern.
Bogballe claims that this knowledge allows the design and setting of the machine for work to be simplified for the operator.
All Bogballe machines operate with inward-turning discs, giving what is called a fully symmetrical spread pattern, while most conventional machines offer outward turning discs, giving a box-type spread pattern. There will be a different method for performing section control tasks.
Bogballe offers two types of section control and both are controlled via a GPS system.
Firstly, the section control standard is software built in to all computer-controlled Bogballe machines at no extra cost, with or without weigh cells. This system is designed to operate from 12m up to 24m. Secondly, the more advanced dynamic section control is designed to operate from 24m up to 42m and is an optional extra. This is new from Bogballe and is only available on M series machines.
All auto stop/start and section control features on Bogballe machines are controlled via GPS systems and can be linked to most makes (Tee-Jet, Trimble, Patchwork, Topcon, etc).
While Bogballe is compatible with most GPS makes, the company also feels that it is important to be able to offer an in-house option. It developed a new system that is controlled by any Android tablet, which requires a GPS antenna and a modem device (from Bogballe).
Download a free app and away you go – your tablet is now a GPS system and will control the auto stop/start on headlands and also the section control wirelessly while displaying area covered and machine details.
This system allows the operator to save individual jobs as reports, showing job details and a map of the individual field’s spread and send them to a number of email addresses from the field.
While the aesthetics of the Bogballe offering remains unchanged for now, there have been significant advancements made in the control systems and specs available.
