German forage wagon manufacturer Bergmann is set to take the wraps off a newly developed, steered ActiveLoad 2 pick-up reel at Agritechnica. The firms say its aim was to further improve stability and performance while simultaneously making the material flow more efficient.
With working widths of 1,940 mm, 2,050 mm and 2,270 mm, ActiveLoad 2 is designed for the Bergmann Repex, Carex and Shuttle wagon series. It comes with six rows of tines, along with new plastic scrapers which Bergmann says improve the material flow while minimising operating noise. It notes they are low-wear, flexible and enable quick replacement of the double tines, to simplify maintenance and repair work.
The pick-up now features reinforced double tines. With a claimed 20% larger diameter compared to the previous model, it says the double tines offer greater stability and durability. Bergmann claims the optimised ratio between the tines and scrapers creates more free space and improves quiet operation and service life.

Bergmann says the new plastic scrapers are quiet, low-wear and easy to maintain.
Three-bearing tine carrier shaft
The manufacturer says a further highlight is the maintenance-free, three-bearing tine carrier shaft, which it notes works reliably even under high loads. The tine carriers can be removed for easy maintenance. The plastic scrapers can be flexibly folded forwards after loosening the upper screws.
Bergmann explains that the six tine carriers are controlled via a low-wear cam track for high-throughput fodder intake. It says the new support rollers come with a 30% larger outer diameter, a 33% larger inner diameter and a 31% wider design to reduce the bearing speed and increase stability.
Bergmann has added a large maintenance opening directly on the cam track for access to the support rollers, making it easier to replace them. It notes that the opening also allows for visual control of the cam track.

Bergmann says it was designed for direct access to the support rollers.
Material flow
For better pre-compaction and fodder transfer to the rotor, the pick-up is equipped with a new suspension for the double swath rollers followed by a guide comb. Bergmann says the ActiveLoad 2 pick-up has a standard pendulum suspension and is equipped with trailing guide wheels for ideal adaptation to the ground. Mechanical or hydraulic pick-up relief is optionally available to ensure even pick-up contact pressure.

Hydraulic drive
Thanks to its hydraulic drive, the speed of the pick-up can be set independently of the tractor’s motor speed (PTO speed). This allows the driver to set the pick-up’s ideal operating speed for the conditions to hand.
The standard driving speed-dependent pick-up speed control ensures continuous intake and feeding of the fodder to the rotor. The driver can turn the speed control on or off to suit the operating conditions.
Bergmann claims to be the only manufacturer to offer both a steered and a non-steered pick-up for loader wagons. A zero series of the ActiveLoad 2 pick-up will be released for the coming 2026 season.
