According to new figures from the FTMTA, the Irish wheel loader market in 2025 recorded a total of 197 registrations, up 18.7% on the 160 machines registered in 2024.
The 2025 figures were similar to 2023 and 2022 numbers, where new loader registrations finished at 198 and 201 units respectively.
Last year, DGM topped the market, with a 16.75% share (33 units), followed by JCB with a 14.21% share (28 units).
In third was Komatsu with 13.71% (27 units), followed closely by Volvo and Haihong in joint fourth, with 13.2% each (26 units). New Holland, Kramer and Everun came in joint fifth, with just over 4% each (eight units), while Claas and Shangqi were joint sixth, with just over 3% each (six units).
The really interesting point to note here is the growing influx of the smaller Chinese-manufactured wheel loaders, which accounted for over 40% of the total year-to-date new wheeled loader registrations in 2025 in Ireland.

Chinese-built loaders have garnered a large share of the Irish market for the past number of years now.
This shift in the market isn’t new this year, with Chinese loaders garnering a larger share of the market for the past number of years now. The three most notable brands making inroads into the Irish market are DGM, Haihong and Everun. Similar to the EV car market, the growth of these brands is largely down to price.
Telescopic loaders
New figures from the FTMTA show that the Irish market for new telescopic loaders reported a 42.86% increase in registrations in 2025, in comparison to the year previous.
A total of 754 new telehandlers were registered in 2025, the highest in recent years.
The growth in popularity of these machines is evident in the figures, with 534 new telehandlers sold in 2022, followed by 606 units in 2023 and 618 machines in 2024.
Manitou and JCB completely dominated the 2025 Irish telescopic loader market, acquiring 71.6% between them.

JCB came in second with 33.16% of the 2025 market, with 250 units.
Manitou led the way with 38.4% (290 units), followed by JCB in second with 33.16% (250 units). In third position was Kramer with 7.82% (59 units), followed closely by Weidemann with 7.29% (55 units).
Giant ranked in fifth with 3.58% (27 units), with Schaffer polling just behind in seventh with 3.45% (26 units).
Merlo registered a 2.25% share (17 units), followed by Bobcat with 1.46% (11 units).
Despite the significant growth of Chinese brands in the wheel loader segment, no Chinesemanufactured telescopic loader has been registered in Ireland this year.
