The news is that there are more features and options for the 800 and 900 Vario range.

The Fendt 800 and 900 series of tractors have received a lot of new options, both cosmetic and mechanically. Some of the new cab features include a new front window design with 300 or 180-degree wiper arm rotation.

For field work, Fendt recommends a 300-degree wiper function and 180 degrees for road work.

There is also the option of laminated security glass all-round in the cab and this can be fitted with a heating option.

Fendt will offer a new lighting concept with bi-halogen front head lights. For easier use, the steps into the tractor cab now have built-in lights to the fuel tank.

There is also the function of ‘walk home lights’ available where the work lights can stay on for a set period after the tractor engine is switched off.

Another new extra is the reversible engine fan. Fendt claims that this will keep air flow to the coolant system constant.

Fendt will be offering a new VarioGrip tyre pressure regulation system for these bigger tractors.

It claims to offer higher traction, lower rolling resistance, a lower fuel requirement as well as significantly better driving safety on the road.

Fendt claims that VarioGrip operators have up to 15% more traction with the same tractor horsepower.

Fendt now has what it calls ‘Smart hydraulics with low energy design’.

Up to now, the power steering pump, a constant pump, provided the pressure for the hydraulic system.

fuel savings

In the new Fendt 800 and 900 Vario tractors, this task is done by what is claimed to be an efficient displacement pump, which only delivers as much pressure as is required. Thus, this system also plays its part in the fuel-saving overall design concept.

The Fendt 800 and 900 Vario range has a new twin turbo-charging system design using different sized turbochargers. These are connected in series, and when used with an additional charge-air intercooler, Fendt claims that twin charging optimises power output and fuel consumption in the low speed range.

The cooling effect of the additional intercooler claims to give improved combustion and fuel efficiency.

ELECTRONIC TRACTOR INTEREST

Fendt claims to have many years of research experience in the area of tractor electric drives. At the press camp 2013, the German tractor company presented research results from the Fendt X Concept project in the shape of a Fendt 722 Vario with a high-voltage interface in addition to the hydraulic connections and electric pto drive.

Fendt claims that up to 130kW electrical power is available here to operate electrified implements.

These implements are controlled with the established ISOBUS system which is already an option on Fendt tractors.

Fendt claims to have recognised the potential of electric drive technology as far back as 2001. It began a joint project with universities and industry partners to research electric tractor systems.

The goal was to develop compact and safe electric machines suitable for mobile operations.
