The nomination process for Macra na Feirme’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates has now closed and the 10 election candidates have just been announced.

Macra elects a new National President and three Vice Presidents every two years.
The candidates for the position of President are as follows:
Eamon Cassells (30) from Gillstown, Athboy, Co Meath. Eamon is a Lab Technician at the National Cattle Breeding Centre and part-time suckler farmer.
Paddy Delaney (28) from Cremorgan, Timahoe, Portlaoise. Paddy is a beef, sheep and tillage farmer and malting barley plant supervisor.
Séan Finan from Ballinlough, Castlerea, Co Rosommon. Sean is a beef farmer and construction project manager with Sisk.
Michelle O’Callaghan from Shanballyrea, Knockraha, Co Cork. Michelle is a Quality Assurance Chemist with Pfizer and partner in her family farm partnership.
The candidates for Vice-President in Leinster are as follows:

Noel Duffy from Athlone Road, Ferbane, Co Offaly. Noel works in Bord na Mona and is studying for the Green Cert in Gurteen Agricultural college.
Odile Evans from Plattenstown, Arklow, Co Wicklow. Odile is a UCD Food and Agribusiness Management final year student.
Aoife Lanigan from Newpark Drive, Co Kilkenny. Aoife joined Kilkenny City Macra club in 2001.
As there is only one candidate for Macra Vice-President in Munster, Gerard Griffin from Araglen in Fermoy, Co Cork has automatically been elected as Vice-President in this region and will be ratified at the Macra AGM on 9 May 2015. Gerard is a member of Macra since 2005 and is a teacher and farmer.
The candidates for Vice-President in the north-west are Ray Gilmartin from Corlough, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim, and Caroline O’Dowd from Gurteen, Ballymote, Co Sligo. Ray is one of the founding members of South Leitrim Macra in 2009 and works as an agricultural consultant with Ray Gilmartin Ltd. Caroline is a member of South Sligo Macra since 2006 and works as a Primary School Deputy Principal.
The election will take place in the Irish Farm Centre in Dublin on 7 April 2015 and only affiliated Macra na Feirme branches can vote in the elections. The elected candidates will take up office at the Macra AGM on 9 May 2015 and the deadline for ballots is 1pm on 7 April.
