A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service told the Irish Farmers Journal that emergency services received a 999 call at 10.28am on Wednesday following reports that a man had fallen from a height into a slurry tank on Baranailt Road in Claudy, Co Derry.
The ambulance service despatched a rapid response paramedic, two ambulance crews and a paramedic officer to the scene. The charity air ambulance also responded to the incident.
Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, the patient was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, the ambulance service said.
This is the second serious incident involving a slurry tank in the area after two men suffered injuries on a farm, also in Claudy, last month.
