Progressive Genetics has increased the cost of milk recording by 20%.
For a typical 100-cow herd milk recording four times per year with eDIY recording, the annual cost will increase by €210 to €1,312.
This works out at a cost of just over €13 per cow, up from the previous cost of €11 per cow.
The visit fee has increased by €28 to €170.50 while the per-cow fee (above 50 cows) has increased by 49c to €2.85 per cow. The cost of manual recording has increased also.
Market
Progressive Genetics has a 40% share of the milk recording market and almost half of the cows are recorded using electronic DIY recording.
Progressive Genetics said the increase is on the back of higher maintenance costs on eDIY meters and increased labour costs. It said it is also in line with other suppliers.
