Scottish police are appealing for information after a spate of crimes on farms recently.

More than 20 items of equipment including chainsaws, strimmers and cordless drills were stolen from a secured shed on a farm off the A923 near Coupar Angus. The theft occurred overnight on Friday 27 October to Saturday 28 October.

Meanwhile, around 73 bales were damaged at a farm off the Hilliclay road south of Thurso, somewhere between 3 November and 5 November.

Anyone with information about either of these crimes is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101. Information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Advice

Separately farmers in the Highlands and Islands are urged to be vigilant against theft of oil from tanks over the winter months.

“It is a good idea to make sure your filler cap is lockable and has a security valve fitted to prevent fuel being drained from the supply pipe,” Sergeant Richard Ross from the Preventions and Interventions Unit said.

“Security lights which detect movement are an effective deterrent,” he advised.
