ICOS’s Brussels lobbying bigwig Conor Mulvihill is returning home from a five-year stint making friends and influencing people in the Belgian capital.Mulvihill has taken up the role as head of the Irish Dairy Industries Association (IDIA). The IDIA is the lobbying group for the country’s dairy sector and is nestled under the IBEC umbrella. A letter was circulated on Thursday evening within IBEC notifying staff of Mulvihill’s appointment. Mulvihill will be leaving the role of European executive for ICOS. He previously served as parliamentary assistant to Michael Lowry. That’s proper training.European Commissioner for Agriculture Phil Hogan has regularly paid tribute to the lobbying work of Mulvihill, as well as the Limerick man’s talents as a dynamic and robust full-forward on the Brussels football team. He’ll need all of those traits in his new gig.
