A 77ac farm at Ballyorley, Ferns, Co Wexford sold for €1.12m (€14,545/ac) when it went to auction on 8 July. The auction was due to take place in Quinn Property's Carnew office, but was relocated to the main ring in Carnew Mart in order to facilitate proper social distancing for a turnout of 50 people on the day.

  • Prior to auction, the property carried a guide price of between €800,000 and €900,000.

    Bidding for lot one peaked at €550,000 with three active bidders. Lot two reached €260,000.

    Lot three (the entire) was then revisited after reaching €800,000 initially. The opening bid on lot three was €850,000. It is understood that two farmers, both of whom had land adjoining the property, bid it to a final offer of €1,120,000 and the hammer fell. The purchaser is an adjoining dairy farmer.
