Teagasc has filled the important position of ruminant nutrition specialist. Brian Garry climbed up through the ranks, having recently completed a PhD in grass digestibility in Moorpark. Hailing from a dairy farm in Ballinrobe, Co Mayo, Brian now fills the position vacated over a year ago by Siobhán Kavanagh and will address ruminant nutrition across the country.
Meanwhile, the Dealer hears there is firm competition to fill the position of head of Teagasc advisory in Limerick/Kerry (AMU), with John Donworth retiring this week.
Rumours suggest strong interest from capable replacements, with dairy advisor Ger Courtney and head of sheep programme Michael Gottstein linked to the position. Also, James Mimnagh takes up the role as beef and sheep adviser in Co Louth.
