Michael Treacy is not letting the grass grow under his feet. The retired IFA Brussels director is maintaining his involvement in a project to create a meaningful global farmers representative structure, through the World Farmers Organisation. Now I’m hearing Treacy has accepted a role with the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association (ITBA) as its EU lobbyist. His understanding of the politics at the heart of the EU will provide what ITBA chair Derek Iceton calls “a gamechanger for the association”, with the objective of “getting the Irish horse breeder on the radar in Brussels”.
