On Saturday 1 March, Macra members from clubs across the country headed to Roscommon Community Sports Park in Lisnamult for Roscommon Macra’s Soccer Blitz.

The event was an outstanding success, with an electric atmosphere and an incredible turnout of nearly 120 people – far beyond what we ever imagined.

Ten teams, both Macra members and non-members, took part in the event.

The craic, both during and after the matches, was second to none, making it one of the most memorable nights for everyone involved and undoubtedly the best Macra event held in Co Roscommon in years.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our sponsors and Roscommon Sports Partnership for their invaluable support.

Special appreciation to those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organise the event – Kelsey Daly, Jack Cronin, and Rachel Lavin – as well as our helpers for the evening Kevin Crehan, Shane Swanick, and Elaine Brady.

We were also thrilled to welcome Conor Murphy and John Duffy, who joined us ahead of their upcoming Macra elections.

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who attended, the teams who took part, and a special shoutout to North Leitrim Macra for adding to the fun and making the night truly unforgettable.

One of many

This is only one of the many events that have been happening in Roscommon Macra in the last few months.

The county has also held weekly jiving lessons, taken a trip to Elevate in Athlone, and taken part in the Aurivo North West Kings and Queens and the National Indoor Soccer Competition.

There are many more events to come, so if this sounds like something you’d be interested in, give us a follow on Instagram @roscommonmacra.
