Farmers should expect to have their ANC payment lodged to their bank in two days, according to the Department of Agriculture.
The Department has today (Monday) sent out a text message to those farmers registered with www.agfood.ie to tell them that their ANC payment is processed and will be lodged to their bank from Wednesday 21 September.
The ANC, formerly the Disadvantaged Area Scheme, has a budget of €195m and is a crucial payment for most farmers. Approximately 75% of the country is classed as being disadvantaged. From 2018, there will be an extra €25m in the ANC budget.
Payment rates
Farmers with mountain-type land should expect a payment rate of €109.71 for the first 10ha. They will receive €95.99 for the remaining hectares up to maximum of 34ha.
Farmers with more severely handicapped lowland will be paid €95.99 for 30ha, subject to an overall maximum of 30ha.
And farmers on less severely handicapped lowland will be paid €82.27 for 30ha, subject to an overall maximum of 30ha.
Farmers with a combination of mountain-type land, more severely handicapped lowland and/or less severely handicapped lowland will be paid up to a maximum of 30ha, except where the area of mountain type land declared is between 30ha and 34ha. In these cases, the payment will be based on the number of hectares of mountain-type land declared.
Payment will be made in the order of mountain-type lands firstly, more severely handicapped lowland secondly, with less severely handicapped lowland thirdly, so as to maximise the amount which can be paid to an applicant.
