The 15 February deadline to record any outstanding survey or event recording information in the Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP) is approaching fast. The completion of data is important to ensure payments are maximised.

Data collection or event recording accounts for 20% of the annual payment – split evenly to 10% for record keeping and 10% for event recording. Where all information was recorded for the 2025 scheme year, then farmers do not need to take any action.

However, where between 80% and 100% of the required data was submitted before payment information was processed in November 2025, then a proportionate reduction based on the percentage of data submitted will have applied to this payment. Where less than 80% of the required data was submitted, then a 10% penalty will have been applied. This penalty was calculated on the sum of money attributed to the action.

Where the required information is recorded with the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF) by 15 February, then any penalties incurred and payment for the action will be approved at the next SCEP payment run.

For example – if a farmer was due to receive a payment of €3,000 under SCEP, €600 of this will be attributed to action five for data recording.

If less than 80% of data was recorded, then the €600 payment will have been withheld plus there would have been a 10% penalty applied, amounting to €60, imposed.

This means that the farmer will receive €660 in payment if all outstanding data is recorded correctly. Farmers can double check the information submitted on the ICBF portal, while the level of payment received can be checked at agfood.ie.
