A ram that attacked a woman on Sunday at Downpatrick Head, Co Mayo, has been removed from the popular coastal walking spot, local gardaí told the Irish Farmers Journal.
The woman told gardaí that the ram knocked her over several times and stamped on her over five to 10 minutes.
She later had to attend her GP.
Investigators noted the presence of signs asking visitors to close gates and concluded that someone must have left a gate open, letting the animal loose into the public area.
Following a follow-up visit by local gardaí on Monday, "the alleged offending ram has been taken off the area", an officer said.
"This incident has been taken care of."
