The National Ploughing Association (NPA) announced on Sunday that next year's Ploughing will take place in Ballintrane, Fenagh, Co Carlow.

The Dealer first heard rumours of the move in August. During this year's event last month, Carlow-based TD Pat Deering said publicly that the Ploughing was heading for his home county – only to be rebuffed by NPA spokesperson Anna Marie McHugh.

Deputy Deering's information has now been confirmed.

The last time the Ploughing took place in Co Carlow was for the 2006 World Ploughing Championships. The site at the time was outside Tullow, just 10 miles away from next year's venue.
