Property Partners McDonnell successfully auctioned 55.25ac at Enniscoffey, Gaybrook, Mullingar, Co Westmeath. A number of interested parties registered in advance to bid but on the day, just two bidders competed. The bidding rose to €670,000 at which point the property was declared on the market. It was then knocked down at this price which works out at €12,126/ac.

The land is in one block with good road frontage. The buyer is believed to be a neighbouring farmer with dairy interests.

Herlihy Auctioneers sold a 50ac holding at Castlepole, Kells, Co Meath. This property is laid out in five fields and is in grass. Five bidders took part in the auction which was conducted by Gerry Curtis. The bidding reached the reserve of €420,000 and then went on to sell at €508,000. The buyer is understood to be a local farmer. The price equates to €10,160/ac.

Daniel Fleming Auctioneers has just sold a 34ac residential holding at Donoughmore, Co Cork. The land is in grass and the property includes a farm yard and a farmhouse which requires some upgrading.

Big dairy area

The holding made €565,000. It was bought in trust for a client who is believed to be a local farmer. “This is a big dairy area and we had a lot of underbidders,” Daniel Fleming said. “We need more land.”
